You've probably seen others use smilies before in e-mail messages or other bulletin board posts. Smilies are keyboard characters used to convey an emotion, such as a smile or a frown . This bulletin board automatically converts certain text to a graphical representation when it is inserted between brackets [].  Here are the smilies that are currently supported by KC Star Riders STAR Chapter 227:

There are several Forum Codes you may use to change the appearance of your text.  Following is the list of codes currently available:

Moderators control individual forums. They may edit, delete, or prune any posts in their forums. If you have a question about a particular forum, you should direct it to your forum moderator.

These Forums use cookies to store the following information: the last time you logged in, your Username and your Encrypted Password. These cookies are stored on your hard drive. Cookies are not used to track your movement or perform any function other than to enhance your use of these forums. If you have not enabled cookies in your browser, many of these time-saving features will not work properly. Also, you need to have cookies enabled if you want to enter a private forum or post a topic/reply.

You may delete all cookies set by these forums in selecting the "logout" button at the top of any page.

You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where the post to be edited or deleted is located and you will see a edit or delete icon () on the line that begins "posted on..." Click on this icon to edit or delete the post. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum Moderator or the forum Administrator. A note is generated at the bottom of each edited post displaying when and by whom the post was edited.

For security reasons, you may not attach files to any posts. However, you may cut and paste text into your post.

You may search for specific posts based on a word or words found in the posts, user name, date, and particular forum(s). Simply click on the "search" link at the top of most pages.

The Forum does censor certain words that may be posted; however, this censoring is not an exact science, and is being done based on the words that are being screened, so certain words may be censored out of context. By default, words that are censored are replaced with asterisks.

Changing a lost password is simple, assuming that e-mail features are turned on for this forum. All of the pages that require you to identify yourself with your Username and Password carry a "lost Password" link that you can use to have a code e-mailed instantly to your e-mail address of record that will allow you to create a new password. Because of the Encryption that we use for your password, we cannot tell you what your password is.

Yes, the Subscription feature allows you to subscribe to the entire Board, individual Categories, Forums and/or Topics, depending on what the administrator of this site allows. You will receive an e-mail notifying you of a post that has been made to the Category/Forum/Topic that you have subscribed to. There are four levels of subscription:

- Board Wide Subscription
If you can subscribe to an entire Board, you'll get a notification for any posts made within all the forums inside that board.

- Category Wide Subscription
You can subscribe to an entire Category, which will notify you if there was any posts made within any topic, within any forum, within that Category.

- Forum Wide Subscription
If you don't want to subscribe to an entire Category, you can subscribe to a single forum. This will notify you of any posts made within any topic, within that forum.

- Topic Wide Subscription
More conveniently, you can subscribe to just an individual topic. You will be notified of any post made within that topic.

Each level of subscription is optional. The administrator can turn On/Off each level of subscription for each Category/Forum/Topic.
To Subscribe or Unsubscribe from any level of subscription, you can use the "My Subscriptions" link, located near the top of each page to manage your subscriptions. Or you can click on the subscribe/unsubscribe icons ( ) for that Category/Forum/Topic you want to subscribe/unsubscribe to/from.

Using your own avatar is normally a simple process if you have your own Web space or are using an image from another site. The following process may seem rather long, but will give you a chance to use your own avatar without having to store your image on another site.

How to post your own avatar without having Web space:

1) Create an image that is no larger than 150 X 150 pixels.
2) Save it to your desktop.
3) Login at the chapter forums.
4) Click “Resources” from the second toolbar from the top.
5) Click “Photo Album” (Between “Event Calendar” and “File Lister”)
6) Under the welcome statement, click “Edit Your Album/Upload Files”. If you don't have an album contact an administrator (see Our Officers link).
7) Click “Upload Files Into Album”
8) Click the grey “Browse” button.
9) Locate and highlight your picture file.
10) Click “Click Open”
11) Now back on the forum page, click “Upload Image”
12) Return to your photo album.
13) You’ll want to end up in your Main Album
14) Click on the image that you want to use and it will appear in the center of page below the thumbnails.
15) Right click on the image below and choose “Properties”
16) Toward the center of the dialog box, you will see the URL Address
17) Use your mouse to highlight the address.
18) While it is highlighted, hit Control (Ctrl) + C to copy the address.
19) Now return to the Forum window where you will click on “Profile”
20) You may be asked to enter your password again.
21) Place your cursor in the field called “New Avatar”
22) With the cursor in that field, press Control (Ctrl) + V to paste the address in the field.
23) Click “Submit” at the bottom of the form and Pow!! Your done.

When you are reading the messages posted in a topic and wish to add your own message, click on the Reply to Topic link located at the top of the Topic.

When you are reading topics in a forum and wish to add your own topic to that forum, click on the New Topic link located at the top of the Forum.

Once you are logged onto the forums, click the Profile link. You may be asked once more for your password. Once you are at your Profile, find the field Birth Date and click the pop up button . A window will pop up. Select the Month and Year then click Go. Once the proper Month and Year are shown, then click the Date. That's it.

PM is a "Private Message". It is kind of like an email.
In the top left area you will see PM Inbox (Your name) - You have X messages
Click on the icon to enter your PM Inbox. You can see your sent PMs in your Outbox and Reply To or Forward a PM you have received in your Inbox.

If you get the error:
"Error!
Invalid character or bad word in any of the text fields. Please correct and try again." when uploading a photo to our site.

Try this solution:

Cause:

Internet Explorer 8 has security zones for Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites. This problem occurs when the setting "Include local directory path when uploading files to a server" is Disabled

Resolution:

1.In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options.
2.Select the Security tab.
3.Select the zone; Internet or Local Intranet.
4.Click the Custom level button.
5.Scroll down the settings and enable "Include local directory path when uploading files to a server".
6.Click the OK button.
7.Click Yes when prompted "Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?".
8.Close Internet Explorer.
9.Relaunch Internet Explorer and try again.

Note: The Trusted Sites zone has the setting "Include local directory path when uploading files to a server" Enabled by default. You can simply add our website address to the Trusted Sites list to resolve the issue.
